British Values

We want out children to become responsible, active citizens who participate in democracy and public life with respect for diversity and a commitment to working towards greater community cohesion.  Personal, Social, Relationships and Health Education (PSRHE) is at the heart of our school which emphasises the difference between right and wrong as well as respecting and tolerating differences in a very diverse and modern Britain.  We have planned a curriculum that will enable children to make progress towards these aims.  Through engaging lessons we give all children a better understanding of themselves and others in the ‘community of communities’ in which they live.  We also promote and develop children’s spiritual, moral, and cultural understanding through our learning behaviour characters, Resilient Rene, Enthusiastic Ellery and Independent Indy, and also our Northfield Code of Behaviour..

These also underpin and reflect British Values of:

  • Democracy
  • Rule of law
  • Individual liberty
  • Along with mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
